Joker notably opened with $96.2 million on its theater release in 2019 and eventually
took a little over $1 billion in the global box office.
The first movie – which was also directed by Phillips –
had a budget of between $55 and $70 million. However, the budget more
than doubled to around $200 million for Folie À Deux.
The sequel screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month,
where it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per

It had been projected to bring in around $70 million – but the number drastically dropped amid mixed reviews before
release.
Audiences have since shared their opinions on the sequel,

Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s final scene, which saw main character Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin)
brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.
This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the
course of the two movies was never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was really just the random inmate who killed Arthur in the last moments of the film.
The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and they took to social
media to share their frustration.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major
candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme —
abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated
ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire
Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to
persuade voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution —
and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled
states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”
She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

he conceded, “but that’s very small.”
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants
that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris administration.
“People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,” he

“My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.”
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the
proposal to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected
of having entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.
“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering
an opportunity to mobilize more people to vote —
on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact
on the race for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and
both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,”
said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona
ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise

Facing criticism from both voters and parties, the electoral
commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians until
Saturday evening to vote.
In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about 60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who
arrived at 4:30 am.
The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until 11:00 pm
on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next day.

Folie à Deux begins with Arthur behind bars in Arkham Asylum,
waiting to see whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for the murders he committed two years prior.
In the meantime he is enjoying his celebrity status with fellow prisoners
and even the warders, one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

not the gloomily introspective Arthur.
Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance with a smug interviewer played by Steve Coogan, it is time for the trial, with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple
personality disorder.
His lawyer (Catherine Keener) strives to show that Joke is accused of five
murders, rather than Arthur. Lee just as urgently wants him to identify as
his demonic alter ego.
In the final scenes, Arthur renounces his Joker alter-ego and is
found guilty of first-degree murder.
As he is being sentenced a car bomb detonates outside the court, with two people helping Arthur escape, but he is later caught by the police and taken back to Arkham.
In the Asylum a young patient begins to tell Arthur a
joke, before stabbing him in the stomach and while he bleeds to death, carves a smile
into his own face.
It raises questions surrounding the Joker’s true identity, as it would seem he never
went on to become the famed villain, instead he was just the person who inspired the
man who eventually became him.

Director Todd, told Entertainment Weekly: ‘When those guards kill that kid in the [hospital] he realises that dressing up in makeup,

this idea that Gotham people put on him, that he represents.
‘He’s an unwitting icon. This thing was placed on him, and he doesn’t want to live as a
fake anymore — he wants to be who he is.’
The movie serves as a follow-up to Phoenix’s 2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker.

For the star-studded affair located at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Rooney, 39, joined her dashing husband Joaquin, 49.
The couple – who ‘secretly wed’ recently – looked happier
than ever as they posed for sweet snaps on the carpet.
Rooney looked out of this world as she slipped into a floral sheer dress and
flashed her underwear underneath.
The glitzy gala had no shortage of A-list star power as they were also joined by the likes of supermodel
Kendall Jenner as well as fan-favorite actress and newly
minted billionaire Selena Gomez.

‘I love it. I love it so much. I think it’s the best thing
in the world,’ Rooney gushed of motherhood on the LaunchLeft Podcast last year.
‘It doesn’t feel like a two-actor house because I didn’t
work for the first three and a half years we were together.
Basically since we’ve been together, I only worked one or two times and one was really small and short.
