がんばって5時30分に起きました。
１５人程度集まって、平日で１０人以上はめったにないとあしたおっしゃってました。
公平チームと非公平チームにわかれて私は非公平チーム。

    It is not clear when Apollonia’s relationship with Prince began or ended as
    he was dating another one of the stars of Purple Rain during the making of the film, Susan Moonsie.

    Prince and Beyonce famously joined forces onstage at the 2004
    Grammy Awards, performing a medley that included his iconic 1984
    single Purple Rain. 

    Their duet also included her fan favorite number Crazy In Love, which
    saw him accompany her on the electric guitar.

    Afterwards, Prince gave an interview in which he shared his appraisal of Beyonce’s musical abilities when they worked together.

    ‘I was really curious as to how much she knew musically,
    and I was really pleased to find out that she knew a lot about

    Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper
    and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).

    The veal in these gives a lightness to the result,
    but you can swap it out for all beef, or flavourful pork mince.
    This is a good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around.
    The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a
    meal for an emergency.

    SERVES 4

    4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion

    1 onion, finely chopped

    2 garlic cloves, chopped

    400g tin chopped tomatoes

    200g white bread (day old, if possible)

    whole milk (enough to soak the bread)

    500g beef mince

    250g English veal mince

    2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve

    4 anchovies, finely chopped

    2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley

    salt and freshly ground black pepper

    350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)

    1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive
    oil over a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and half the garlic,
    then sauté for 10 minutes to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce to a simmer
    and leave to cook, stirring occasionally (about 20 minutes,
    to create a thick sauce), while you make the meatballs.

    2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft. In another bowl,
    mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the rest of the
    onions and garlic. Then add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing any excess milk from it first.
    Mix well and season with salt and pepper. Mould the mixture
    into 12-14 meatballs.

    3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a large frying pan over
    a medium heat. When hot, add the meatballs, turning
    (for about 5 minutes) to ensure they colour all over. If necessary, cook in batches so
    they are not all squashed together, setting each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.

    4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
    Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
    Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5
    minutes to cook through. Sprinkle with the remaining parsley
    before serving.

    TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top of spaghetti.
    If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according
    to the packet instructions until al dente. Drain it in a colander, reserving a
    cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball sauce if
    necessary, and then transfer it back to the pan and toss it with a little olive oil
    and butter. Put the spaghetti on a serving plate
    and top with the meatballs and sauce. Finish with
    a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

    However, around 2,000 workers and 49 shops still remain at risk.

    It is unclear which stores will remain branded as Homebase
    after the deal, while administrators have not yet disclosed the ones that
    may still be at risk. 

    Many will be left fearing that their local Homebase could be closing
    down – after relying on stores since they first opened in 1981. 

    Below is a full list of the 130 Homebase stores currently operating in the
    UK and Ireland – which could be included in the 49 still at risk.

    them into supermarkets in a deal which is anticipated to create
    around 1,000 new jobs. 

    The locations set for conversion are located
    in Sutton Coldfield, Bromsgrove, Cromer, Derry/Londonderry,
    Fareham, Inverurie, Lowestoft, Newark, Omagh and Rugby. 

    Damian McGloughlin, the managing director of Homebase,
    told suppliers in August it would begin an ‘active sale process’ to seek new investment.

    The threat facing the retail giant came as Britain’s high street continue to
    suffer after beloved brands including BHS, Wilko, Debenhams, The Body Shop and CarpetRight ran into financial
    trouble.

    Simon Roberts, chief executive officer of Sainsbury’s said: ‘Sainsbury’s food business
    continues to go from strength to strength as we push ahead with our

    with posing nude during her modeling days. 

    In her memoir Melania, which was released Tuesday, she recounts how her nude photos were put on the cover of The New York Post during the
    closing weeks of the 2016 presidential election. 

    The tabloid used the ‘disgusting heaadline,’ as Melania described it, ‘Menage à Trump.’

    ‘My upbringing in Europe had fostered a different
    perspective on nudity, a more open and accepting attitude,

    a natural and uncontroversial aspect of life.’ 

    She noted how ‘attitudes toward the female body in the United States were
    starkly different.’

    The controversial photos were from a 1996 photoshoot

    were being shared for the sole purpose of damaging Donald’s campaign.’

    She wrote that the photos ‘were not a source of shame for me.’

    of the feminine figure. Nudity was a medium through which humanity was elevated and celebrated,’ Melania sid.

    Throughout the book she mentions her working relationship with Vogue and its longtime top editor Anna Wintour. 

    These days Wintour is actively supporting former President Donald Trump’s Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

  89. Russell Crowe has argued that the rise of independent politicians are better representing the views
    of everyday Australians, unlike the two-party-dominated system in the United
    States. 

    The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to podcast host Joe Rogan 
    complaining that Americans were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’.

    ‘We have the same sort of situation, but we have a very interesting
    thing that’s happening in Australia at the moment,
    which is the rise of independents,’ Crowe countered.

    ‘The main parties have to deal with the fact those independents have
    to bring a non-party-line series of points to the argument.

    ‘And it’s working well. It’s working for us. In that it’s making
    both of the main parties re-examine who they are and what they
    stand for.

    Rogan mused ‘we could use that here, for sure’, highlighting how US politics is completely dominated
    by the Democrat and Republican parties.

    There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian,
    and Reform parties, but these receive vanishingly few votes in comparison.

    Independent candidates can also stand and have been known to perform well on occasion.

    Civil rights opponent George Wallace ran a third-party campaign in the 1968 US election which saw him garner 10 million votes and
    take five southern states, while another disaffected Democrat, Strom Thurmond, in 1948 carried
    four southern states on a similarly racist platform but with
    only a million votes.

    The nephew of a president, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was poised to get on the ballot
    in dozens of states as an independent candidate before
    he pulled out and backed Republican Donald Trump. 

    He has now been appointed Health secretary in Trump’s incoming cabinet. 

    Trump himself had previously belonged to the Reform
    Party.

    The former New York property developer had even considered running
    for president in the 2000 election under the banner of that movement – formed by former third-party presidential candidate Ross Perot,
    who won 19 per cent of the popular vote in 1992 but gained no electoral college votes.

    Perot was the most popular minority party candidate since former Republican president Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 ran as the Bull
    Moose Party candidate – carrying six states including
    California and coming second ahead of Republican William Taft.

    Australia has seen a rise in recent years of nominally independent politicians who have taken votes away from the
    two traditional parties of Labor and the Liberal-National
    coalition

    This situation is helped by a strong Green party who now have
    12 senators and four members in the House of Representatives. 

    Zali Steggall (pictured) became the first ‘teal’ independent to
    achieve huge success when she ousted former prime minister Tony Abbott in his seat
    in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election

    Meanwhile, independent candidates who run on strong climate platforms but are fiscally conservative have been labelled
    ‘teal’ candidates.

    This is because they have combined their ‘green’ views on climate with the traditional ‘blue’ approach of the
    centre-right Liberal Party on economics.

    Zali Steggall became the first teal independent to achieve huge success when she ousted former prime
    minister Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election.

    In similar fashion, Monique Ryan won the traditionally Liberal seat from former treasurer Josh Frydenberg
    at the 2022 election. 

    She was one of seven teals elected, swelling the lower house crossbench to
    16, with this tally including the four Greens, three conservative independents and progressives Andrew Wilkie and Helen Haines.

    Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which was first
    aired in August, has recently resurfaced in teal social media adverts.

    They are being pushed by Melbourne philanthropist Simon Holmes à Court, who
    founded Climate 200, which has given campaign funding to some teal candidates.

    Not all the 12 independents elected in 2022 were teals, however.

    Among his many mad-hat policies over the years include a bid to teach school kids how to fire rifles and a desire to build a missile
    shield across northern Australia.

    The House of Representatives crossbench grew to 17 in late
    2022 when Andrew Gee quit the Nationals in protest at its
    opposition to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament. 

    The Greens and independents make up 11 per cent of the
    151-member lower house – the highest proportion of non major party MPs since
    Federation in 1901.

  105. March 24 (Reuters) – Marlboro maker Philip Morris International Inc
    is working on options to exit the Russian market,
    citing a complex and rapidly changing regulatory and operating environment in the country following
    its invasion of Ukraine.

    The company, which garnered around 6% its net revenue from
    Russia in 2021, said on Thursday it has discontinued sale of several cigarette products and canceled all product launches for the year in Russia.

    It has also canceled plans to make over 20 billion TEREA sticks, heated tobacco
    units intended for use with its IQOS ILUMA devices, as well as related investment of
    $150 million.

    Earlier this month, Philip Morris had suspended its planned investments and
    decided to scale down manufacturing operations in the country.

    Rival Imperial Brands too has started talks to transfer
    its Russian business to a local third party, joining BAT in exiting the sanction-hit country.

  108. Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional
    one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as he
    battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel agent’ for free flights and upgrades.

    However that characterization of the relationship was at
    odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese
    and had been ‘for years’.

    In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce
    arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the
    Qantas chief.

    When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese
    implied it was purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and shadow transport
    spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister. 

    ‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline …
    I had the same relationship with him that I have with John Borghetti as the
    CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.

    That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently
    greatly enjoying each other’s company. 

    Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the
    red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March
    last year.

    In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around Mr Albanese’s partner, Jodie
    Haydon.

    Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special
    ‘Yes 23′ emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.

    membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny but talked
    up his relationship with the Prime Minister.

    ‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said. 

    However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied the
    Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic

    Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22
    upgrades from economy from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the former airline boss for them. 

    Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various
    parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself
    or his family.

    According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr
    Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu,
    with some being for holidays.

    Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.    

    Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce. 

    Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.

    ‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking
    up the phone to one of the most important stakeholders in the
    portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I
    think the Prime Minister would be able to answer those questions more
    effectively than anyone else because I’m not
    aware of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.

    It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership
    of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

    The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the
    NSW city of Newcastle.

    ‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were
    not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he said.

    ‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’

    Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he
    was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce
    for upgrades.

    ‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.

    Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s
    lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to
    think that the Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do
    with the decision.

    our reach,’ she said.

    ‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of
    free upgrades to business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister under a cloud.

    ‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.

    Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.

    Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship with Mr Joyce is
    that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid. 

    The sacking has since been ruled illegal by
    Federal Court in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing
    possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts. 

    The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil Mitchell. 

    ‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.

    ‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as a bestie?
    Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

    As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a
    favorite theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.

    In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.

    And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020
    by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.

    In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade voters
    to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution — and,
    while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.

    To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled
    states amount to “a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.”

    She added, “Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.”

    – Mixed impact –

    The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to mobilize more people to
    vote — on ballot questions at the very heart of the two presidential
    campaigns.

    But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the White House
    that activists hope.

    Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very
    narrow lead.

    Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.

    So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at
    Arizona State University.

    Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.

    Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
    Republican issue, the Republican Party includes “a broad spectrum of views on the topic,” an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns about “government interference,” she added.

    The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher
    language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among
    Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a
    Republican and an Arizona state senator.

    The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise to maintain the partial
    closing of the border Biden ordered in recent
    months.

    me if I take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl,
    who joined a year ago and makes enough in a
    week to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not
    to give her name.

    ‘And I am happy to do it because for once I make the rules, in the
    safety of my home and they’re paying me to do it.

    It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’

    For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users, OnlyFans offers creators a platform where they can charge their fans a subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to
    $49.99 a month to look at their content, contact them (or more often access their ‘chatter’ – more of
    which later) and access often more explicit, personalised, ‘à la carte’ content through ‘tips’.

    Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made millions.

    retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
    In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).

    Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from the

    Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit
    card bills and debts when she joined OnlyFans in 2022.

    ‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get
    to next week? How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online

    But all that is chicken feed when you consider
    the £370 million dividend that company owner paid himself last

    And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a majority stake from Tim
    Stokely in 2018, two years after he started
    the business with the help of a loan from his father.

    It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the
    stratosphere. Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do.
    In 2020, it generated revenues of $2.23billion (£1.8billion).
    By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion). There was a brief hiatus in October
    of that year when they tried banning sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched
    back.

    There have been plenty of scandals along the way. A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that children were not just accessing
    the material online by foxing the age verification process but were also
    selling explicit videos on the website. Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence
    to set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos of herself.

    There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms and spaces to make adult
    content.

    Recently there has been more concerns that the company is not doing
    enough to protect minors.

    OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for good, with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing
    them to sell content – over which they have full control – directly to consumers.
    And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree.

    ‘It’s fine. It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing
    out that the site has loads of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.

    And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.

    Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic
    reality TV stars and the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who are happy to tease their followers with
    a few cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.

    I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all
    ‘spicy’ content as the company executives like to call it, everything is dripping with sauce and promise.

    The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding
    her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard to make
    the platform more mainstream – offering contracts and financial incentives to encourage musicians, sports stars, cooks, anyone really, to come on and share a bit of exclusive – or niche –
    content.

    Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses
    backstage at concerts. Celebrities in the bath.

    During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans
    bandwagon to share pictures of their beautifully
    toned bodies.

    Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the site to share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries, including artistic portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99 a month.

    ‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who ‘invest’ in promising creatives.
    In what are referred to rather murkily as ‘mutually beneficial deals’, they
    invest in branding and marketing and videography to boost traffic.

    Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so
    high and the interaction with followers so demanding that if they had to do it all themselves,
    there’s no way they would ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.

    So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano
    de Bergerac – do that for them. Keeping them engaged,
    online, needy and most of all, spending, spending, spending for more
    and more content.

    Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
    The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from
    Twickenham’, but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged
    father of three from the Philippines.

    He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite colour,
    favourite animal and favourite position – have studied a
    script that reminds him ‘it’s all about selling, selling, selling’, and will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts.
    Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which
    perhaps is more appealing.

    And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced
    yourself that you’re in control, empowered and mistress of your own destiny,
    you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or perhaps down) the scale,
    revealing more and more.

    Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips, you’ve kept nothing back for yourself.

    at a 2022 air show in Texas was caused by a lack of proper planning to keep aircraft separated and relying
    instead on a “see-and-avoid strategy” by pilots, federal investigators
    said Monday.

    A Bell P-63F fighter was descending and banking to the left
    when it clipped the left wing of a Boeing B-17G bomber
    from behind. All six people aboard the World War II-era planes – the pilot of the fighter and the pilot,
    copilot and three other crew members on the bomber –
    were killed.

    National Transportation Safety Board investigators said Monday that the pilots’ visibility was limited by their flight paths, obstructions in the cockpits, and “the attention demands associated with the air show performance.”

    The investigators said the probable cause of the accident was
    the lack of a briefing on aircraft separation by the show organizer and the “air boss,” who used binoculars
    and a two-way radio to direct pilots. Instead,
    they relied “on the air boss´s real-time deconfliction directives and the see-and-avoid strategy for collision avoidance,” investigators
    said.

    The show was put on by the Commemorative Air Force, a nonprofit group dedicated to preserving military aircraft.
    The group did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

    The conclusions hewed closely to preliminary findings that the board issued in late 2022.

    Aviation safety experts have said they were surprised that there was no briefing beforehand about keeping
    planes at separate altitudes, and that such planning occurs at other air shows.

    A person familiar with the show´s operations that day said
    pilots were given general directions on altitude during
    a pre-show briefing, but they did not discuss specific altitudes for each pass that the aircraft would perform.

    The NTSB also faulted the Federal Aviation Administration for
    a lack of guidance for air bosses and air show organizers and
    requirements to continually evaluate air bosses and oversee their performance.
    The board said it would publish a final report Thursday.

  137. LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
    roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said
    was positive for its competitors in the short term.

    The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two thirds of its
    net revenues to come from “smoke-free” products by 2030,
    up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver
    of the shift to healthier alternatives.

    Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry into the U.S., the world’s largest market for nicotine products, and had been expecting it from May 2024 next year.
    Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists across
    a host of key U.S. states ahead of the launch.

    Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four
    cities in two unnamed U.S. states from 2024, but a national
    launch would only come after PMI receives approval to sell the latest version, known as IQOS ILUMA.

    The company was planning to apply for approval in October and expected it
    from 2025, he continued.

    “We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI
    fine tune its approach.

    A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he continued, adding launching in 10 states in the first year would
    make sense.

    Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the U.S.
    “now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett,
    equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note, adding
    this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.

    Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
    It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net
    revenues to come from sales of such products by 2025.

    Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it
    had been too optimistic around acceptance of big tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.

    PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and earnings per share,
    and ambitious volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.

    ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S. would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues
    there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA, executives said.
